Amathus Knightsbridge is pleased to host Japanese wine producer Shigeki Kida of Lumiere as he explores the innovative styles of Japan’s native Koshu grape.
The Lumiere winery was founded in 1855 by Tokuyoshi Furuya, the great-grandfather of the present owner, Toshihiko Tsukamoto. In the mid-1960’s, Toshihiko Tsukamoto decided to rebuild the winery using modern technology and renamed it Lumiere (previously it had been called Koshu-en). Today, the winery is run by 5th generation winemaker Shigeki Kida who oversees Lumiere’s winemaking operations. The winery owns 3 hectares of vines and sources grapes under contract from a further 27 hectares of vines in the Yamanashi Prefecture. Lumiere spares no effort in its winemaking endeavours and has consistently won international awards over the last 25 years.
Join us as we taste through the Lumiere still and sparkling Koshus and finish the evening with a tasting of our new range of Japanese craft beers produced by Coedo.
