London Karaoke Insider's Guide

Anyone who likes a spot of karaoke in the privacy of their own little room has heard of Karaoke Box and Lucky Voice.

As great as these venues are, I wanted to see what alternative karaoke venues are out there to help you further enjoy bawling your head off to Whitney, Mariah and the like!

Here's what I found:

China City Restaurant

Nestled between Leicester Square and China Town this restaurant offers possibly the best deal in town for karaoke.  For less than £20 per person you can not only sing to your heart's content, but also consume £20 worth of food and/or drink!  If you spend less than this, you still have to pay the minimum, and if you spend more, you pay for what you've had.  But this sounds like an AMAZING deal to me working out at less than £5 per person per hour!  Wow!

In a nutshell

Price:  Less than £5 per person per hour inc some food/drink

Numbers:  Can accommodate 8 - 26 people

Shanghai Dalston

Located in uber trendy Dalston, this Dim Sum restaurant offers karaoke based on ordering a set menu.  They start from £17.80 and a £5 deposit is required, per person, when booking.  Can't argue with that.

In a nutshell

Price:  Cost of set menu (min £17.80) plus drinks per person for whole evening

Numbers:  Can accommodate 12 - 50 people

Other info:  Shanghai Dalston has a  sister restaurant  in Belsize Park offering similar deals.

Onboard Karaoke

Onboard karaoke in Earls Court offer the cheapest day rates for karaoke I have found, starting at just £1.67 per person per hour, with the night rates not far behind starting from £3.33 per person per hour. In addition to the cheap rates they seem to be keen on doing special offers so check the website and get Onboard!

In a nutshell

Price:  Starting from £1.67 per person/per hour

Numbers:  Can accommodate 4 - 12 people

Other info:  Check website for offers

Cousin Jill's

If money is no object, or maybe you aren't the one paying, Cousin Jill's may well be the place for you.  In upmarket Mayfair this is by far the swankiest looking place I found for karaoke in London.  Known to be a haunt for celebs, you'll receive top notch service in luxurious surroundings.  To find out more take a look at the website.

In a nutshell

Price:  Contact venue

Numbers:  Contact venue

There are many other restaurants and venues offering private karaoke in London including; Bloomsbury lanes and All Star Lanes where you can combine it with bowling,

Queens where bowling and ice skating are also available,

and a multitude of restaurants like Sushi HirobaRibonImperial China and China Delight.

In short, just because you're not in Japan anymore (sob), it doesn't mean you have to go without your monthly, weekly, or even daily bout of karaoke!
